AYURVEDIC TREATMENT FOR RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

AYURVEDIC TREATMENT FOR RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

Rheumatoid Arthritis is an auto-immune disease causing chronic inflammation in joints. In Ayurveda, it is known by the name of “Amavata”.

Before we learn more about Rheumatoid Arthritis, let us first try to understand what is an auto-immune disease. Autoimmune diseases are diseases wherein the immune system of the body attacks the healthy cells of the body.

Our immune system is made up of a network of cells, tissues and organs which work together to fight against diseases, bacteria, viruses and other external and internal threats to our body.

The immune system can identify the difference between foreign cells and your own cells. In an autoimmune disease, the immune system mistakenly attacks our own body parts, such as joints or skin, assuming them to be foreign invaders. Our immune system then releases proteins known as autoantibodies that attack healthy cells.

Symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis or Amavata

As discussed above, Rheumatoid Arthritis is a common type of Auto-Immune Disease where the immune system of our body starts attacking our joints and has some common observable symptoms. These attacks take place by auto-antibodies causing redness, warmth, soreness, and stiffness in the joints. In Rheumatoid Arthritis one may also experience inflammation of the tissue around the joints and other organs.

There can be various other symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis or Amavata.

People suffering from Arthritis generally experience the following:

  • Body ache,

  • Heaviness,

  • Lethargy,

  • Stiffness in knees, fingers and joints.

  • Swelling and pain in your joints.

  • Constipation

These are some of the common symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis.

In our later section, we will be understanding Rheumatoid Arthritis from the perspective of Ayurveda.

RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS AND AYURVEDA

In Ayurveda, inflammatory joints or Rheumatoid Arthritis are caused due to the accumulation of toxins which is known as Ama, in the joints. This is not a sudden disease rather it happens gradually over a period of time, thereby weakening the joints.

The pain can occur at many locations in the joints of our body. Arthritis is no longer an old age-related health issue. There are patients, who are in their 30s, experiencing inflammatory joints and trouble in movements. At times, this condition gets worse with seasonal changes such as winters.

At Vardhan Ayurveda Hospital, we come across patients who come up with complaints of weakened bones and joints which have been either injured or causing them discomfort due to some other reasons.

REASONS FOR RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

The prominent reason behind Rheumatoid Arthritis is the imbalanced way of living led by people. The imbalanced and improper diet, and activity levels, coupled with unnecessary stress have impacted the health of people to a larger extent.

In Ayurveda, such a way of living is called an imbalanced life. There are three doshas in our body which undergo an imbalance hence leading to increased toxins in the body causing inflammation in the joints.

Let us look at some of the remedies that can help you manage Rheumatoid Arthritis naturally.

AYURVEDIC HERBS AND TREATMENT FOR RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

In Ayurveda, getting relief from Arthritis symptoms is a continuous process.

Ayurvedic treatment for rheumatoid arthritis involves the removal of toxins or doshas from the body. For doing so one needs to balance the doshas in the body for removing the toxins. Removal of toxins leads to reduction of inflammation, swelling, pain and stiffness around the joints.

Pirant Tablet

One of the herbal solutions for reducing inflammation is to take the Pirant Tablet by consulting your doctor. It helps in fighting against acute and chronic inflammation of joints. Also, it relaxes muscles and reduces inflammatory swelling in arthralgic joints. It strengthens the synovial membrane and cartilage tissue of the joint.

Pirant Oil

In case you want an external application, then you can use Pirant Oil too. This can be applied directly to the affected joints.

For reducing the toxins and inflammation it is recommended that this oil is to be applied in addition to the Pirant tablets. It helps prevent sclerotic changes in the joints and promotes the excretion of urates from the joints.

In addition to this, you can use Organic Curcumin for daily consumption which will help you immensely to reduce pain and inflammation.
